Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 11, 2025 · Last updated: March 2026
Find Professional Product Photos ("we", "us", or "the App") is a Shopify application that helps merchants discover product images for use in their online store. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the responsibilities merchants accept when using the App.
1. Information We Collect
When you install the App, we collect and store the following information from your Shopify store:
- Your store domain and Shopify shop ID
- Your Shopify access token (used solely to upload images on your behalf)
- Product titles, metadata, and product IDs used to search for relevant photos
- Your name and email address (from the Shopify store owner record)
- A record of which images were found, reviewed, and uploaded through the App
We do not collect, access, or store any customer personal data (such as buyer names, emails, addresses, or payment information).
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the data collected solely to:
- Find and display relevant product photos based on your product titles
- Upload images you select directly to your Shopify product listings
- Maintain your search history and queue across sessions
- Provide customer support and troubleshoot issues
- Improve the App's performance and accuracy
We do not sell, rent, share, or monetise your data in any way. We do not use your product data for any purpose other than delivering the App's core functionality.
3. Image Copyright & Intellectual Property — Merchant Responsibility
⚠ Important — Please Read Carefully
The App surfaces images from publicly accessible sources on the internet. These images are not created, owned, licensed, or verified by Find Professional Product Photos. By using the App and uploading any image to your Shopify store, you accept full and sole legal responsibility for that image.
Specifically, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are responsible for verifying image rights. It is your obligation to confirm that any image you select is legally cleared for commercial use on your store. The App does not verify, guarantee, or represent that any image is royalty-free, licensed for commercial use, or free from third-party intellectual property claims.
- You assume all copyright risk. Any image you upload through the App to your Shopify store is uploaded at your own risk. You agree to bear any and all consequences, costs, and liabilities that arise from the use of that image, including but not limited to copyright infringement claims, DMCA takedown notices, trademark disputes, or legal action from rights holders.
- Find Professional Product Photos bears no liability for image content. We are not liable — directly or indirectly — for any claim, loss, damage, penalty, fine, or expense arising from your use of any image surfaced or uploaded through the App. This includes but is not limited to: copyright infringement, trademark violation, right of publicity claims, defamation, or any other intellectual property dispute.
- You indemnify us. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Find Professional Product Photos, its owners, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claim, liability, loss, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of images uploaded through the App, or your violation of any third party's intellectual property rights.
- Brand and product images may be trademarked. Many product images found on the internet are owned by brands, manufacturers, or photographers and are protected by copyright and/or trademark law. Uploading a brand's product photo to your store without authorisation may constitute trademark or copyright infringement regardless of where the image was sourced.
- When in doubt, don't upload. If you are not certain that an image is cleared for commercial use, do not upload it. We recommend using your own original photography, or sourcing images from properly licensed stock photo platforms where commercial use rights are explicitly granted.
Not legal advice
This policy does not constitute legal advice. If you have questions about copyright, licensing, or your obligations as a Shopify merchant, please consult a qualified legal professional.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services to deliver its functionality:
- Shopify — to access your store data and upload images via the Shopify API
- Cloudflare — for image search infrastructure and temporary image hosting
- Crisp — for in-app customer support chat (may collect basic session data)
- Microsoft Clarity — for anonymous session recording and UX improvement (no personally identifiable information is captured)
Each of these services operates under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the data practices of third-party providers.
5. Data Storage & Security
All merchant data is stored in a secure, encrypted PostgreSQL database. We apply industry-standard security practices including access control, encrypted connections, and minimal data retention. Image URLs are automatically deleted from our systems 72 hours after they are delivered to you.
We retain your data for as long as the App is installed on your store. When you uninstall the App, you may request deletion of all stored data by contacting us.
6. GDPR & Shopify Compliance
We comply with Shopify's mandatory privacy webhook requirements. Upon request, we will:
- Provide a copy of any personal data we hold associated with your store
- Delete all personal data associated with your store or specific customers
- Remove all data upon store deletion or app uninstallation on request
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify merchants of material changes by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
